SONGSHOP FOR KIDS: Kids Creating Songs. Musical Moments!

This years project brought me to New Maryland Elementary School (NMES). Once again the kids were amazing! All of the songs were written by the kids, sung by the kids at a school concert for peers and family. It is always an emotional and uplifting day to see the kids perform their own songs. Keep writing, singing and expressing yourselves kids!

As well, the kids were given an opportunity by local radio station CHSR FM in Fredericton to come in and record them singing their songs to play live on air for the whole community of Fredericton to hear how talented and amazing they are!

It was a great day and as always a pleasure to work with the kids at NMES this year. We hope to be able to take our program to another school in Fredericton or NB area this coming 2017!

I wish to thank the amazing Charlene McLeod who helped inspire me to bring this program to the kids two years ago at Connaught Street School and who I had a great time doing the same this year at NMES. She is truly a pioneer in bringing pure creativity and expression in a new way into a school music program.

As well, I wish to thank Roger Jean at CHSR FM and Tim Finley for helping make the recording of the kids songs happen.

The SongShop for Kids program was made possible with the help of the "Arts and Cultural Industries Branch” of the NB Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture as well as the Education and Early Childhood Development program and the New Maryland Elementary School.
